Information about Palm OS(R) Emulator (POSE) for CLIE(TM) PEG-N700C

[General]

-The Palm OS Emulator for Sony CLIE PEG-N700C program is freeware and should be used at your own risk.
Select any versions (excluding the earliest) of GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE given out from Free Software Foundation.
You can distribute or make changes to the program so long as the distribution or changes conform to the program's contract clauses. Supply the program with GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE.

-Note that the program emulates only PEG-N700C.

-To emulate PEG-N700C, begin a new session and select PEG-N700C for Device, N700C ROM image for ROM File, and 8192K for RAM Size.

-The program does not completely emulate PEG-N700C hardware, so the final validation should be made on an actual device.

[Memory Stick(R) media removable memory]

-To switch in/out of the Memory Stick(R) media, press the In/Out button located at the left side of the emulator.

-A virtual folder of the Memory Stick(R) media will be created in the same folder as Emulator.exe as you boot the emulator. Its size will be one of the following:

  Ms8:8Mbyte MS / Ms16:16Mbyte MS / Ms32:32Mbyte MS /
  Ms64:64Mbyte MS / Ms128:128Mbyte MS

-To emulate the write-protect mode of the Memory Stick(R) media, make the newly created MS* folder "read only" in the folder's properties. Make sure the Memory Stick(R) media is removed from your CLIE(TM) handheld as you emulate this, or it will not function correctly.

[Jog Dial(TM) navigator]

-For each JogEvent, press "Push" to issue vchrJogPush; re-press "Push" to issue vchrJogRelease.

-Select the "Push" option and push either "Up" or "Down" to emulate pressing in and rotating the Jog Dial(TM) navigator.

[Audio]

-The audio playing function is not implemented.
If you try to open the Memory Stick library (MsaLib), the error (SysErrLibNotFound) will be returned.

[Others]

-If you install an application file without setting the emulator to ON, it may hang up.

-The Save Bound Emulator function works only with Windows(R) NT4.0 and Windows 2000 Professional Edition.

-The Save Screen function works only with the display in high-resolution mode.

-If you select Save, Save As, or Save Screen, you need to manually add saved file extensions (e.g., .psf .bmp, etc.).

-From the Skins option: If you clear the Double scale check box, the display in high-resolution mode may become partly invisible.

-When a word is entered in an input field, the emulator does not allow highlighting by double tapping, however, an actual device does.

-If you turn the emulator OFF and then ON immediately after a reset, the Memory Stick media may be set as inserted regardless of previous setting.

-From the Properties option: If you start the schedule application and set an alarm with Enable sounds selected, it may not go off on time.

-From the Install Application/Database option: If you try to install a prc file using a former log with no prc file present in the Path, the system will quit the menu without doing any processing. (No Warning message will appear on the screen.)

-If you use this emulator with Code warrior connected, your application might fail to execute debug mode operations or to transfer the target program.

-If you have Caps Lock on when you run the emulator, it will give you a dialog box that allows you to start a new session. If you do not have Caps Lock on, the emulator will try to load the last session, which may cause problems if the previous session was for another device.

-If you have the RAM set to anything less than 8 MB, the emulator may crash on startup.
